It can be difficult to choose the right size when shopping online. There are no rules for how big or small for example the sizes S, M and L must be. And no rules as to whether, for example, XL can be compared with women's size 42, 44 or 46. It is entirely up to the designers.
In addition, men and women each follow their own scale, and a lot of rainwear is designed as UNISEX models (a size between men's and women's sizes). To make the confusion complete, Europe measures in cm, and in England and the USA in inches - where, by the way, they use several other designations for sizes as well.
Finally, there is a big difference between whether you are looking at fashion rainwear or work rainwear, where the latter is usually spacious in shape. Some models are even so spacious that you have to choose 1-2 sizes smaller if the rainwear is for leisure use.
Therefore you cannot say: "I usually use size..." and be sure that the item fits you. You have to find the measuring tape and look in the corresponding size-guide.
As NORDIC-RAINWEAR represents many different brands, we cannot simply refer to one SIZE-GUIDE. Instead, you will find a link in all the product descriptions to the exact SIZE-GUIDE that applies to the product you are looking at. You will find the link where you choose the size.
PLEASE NOTE that some SIZE-GUIDES show clothing measurements, others show body measurements. At the top of each SIZE-GUIDE it is written how the numbers should be used.

A women's raincoat will typically have an A-shape (narrow shoulders and wide hips), shorter sleeves than a men's raincoat, and perhaps a waist and a cut at the chest. A men's raincoat will typically have a V-shape (broad shoulders and narrow hips), and longer sleeves than a women's raincoat. But a lot of rainwear is designed to fit both genders (UNISEX design). A coat in UNISEX design is usually straight up and down, has medium length sleeves, and the size is usually somewhere between a men's and a women's size. The same applies to trousers and the length of trouser legs.
But since few of us look like the models the designers use, a slender woman with long arms and legs can easily be lucky to find a men's raincoat that fits perfectly. It is a bit more difficult the other way, while both sexes can usually use UNISEX designs. However, women with feminine curves get the most out of rainwear designed for women.
To make it easier for you to find a selection that fits you, all rainwear at NORDIC-RAINWEAR is divided into five different fits: SLIM, NORMAL, WIDE, OVERSIZE and ERGONOMIC fit.
The first three designations seem self-explanatory, while oversize and ergonomic fit require a bit of explanation.
Oversize fit is typical fishing rain gear (the thick rubber rain gear in 400-700 g PVC), which is usually a little stiff and often worn over a thick layer of winter outerwear by men who for example, work at sea in extreme weather conditions. It havve to be extra spacious if the owner is to be able to move. But if the same jacket or trousers are used on land or for other purposes in less severe weather conditions, you often can choose a size or two smaller.
Ergonomic fit you typically find as an extra plus in cycling rainwear and rainwear used in other sports as well as waterproof workwear for jobs that require freedom of movement. An example is form-fitting knees and elbows or clothes that are shaped according to the position you take when you, for example, sit on a bicycle.
